Start your ultimate mountaineering experience on the mythical Olympus! Our adventure begins in the picturesque town of Litochoro. We meet at the Litochoro parking lot at 7:00 AM to check equipment and brief you on the day’s program. 🚐
Litochoro – Christaki Shelter
Leave your personal cars behind and board a bus that will take us to Christaki Shelter, one of the emergency shelters of Olympus at 2450 meters. The ascent on the dirt road leading to the shelter is an experience in itself, with unique landscapes! 🌄
Preparation for the Ascent:
The northwestern side of Olympus has no vegetation, so be prepared for the sun. Wear a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and make sure to have plenty of water and snacks for the hike. ☀️🕶️💧
Ascent to the Peaks:
From Christaki Shelter, we will ascend to the peak of Skolio, enjoying the breathtaking views of Megala Kazania, Mytikas, and Stefani. 🌄 (Note: This hike does not include an ascent to Mytikas due to time constraints.)
We will then pass by the Skala peak and descend the Golgotha path
Descent to Golgotha and Triethnes:
Leaving Skala behind, we descend Golgotha. At Triethnes, we take the path towards the Plateau of the Muses, where we will rest and enjoy a beer or a light meal. 🍺🍽️
Trail to Laimos:
After the break, we follow the trail leading to the impressive Laimos and finally to the Petrostrouga Shelter, where we will spend the night. 🌌
At the Petrostrouga Shelter, a delicious dinner will be waiting for us to recharge our batteries. In the evening, we will enjoy the night sky before retreating for a much-needed rest. 🌠
Get ready for a magical adventure on Olympus! Today’s route is less demanding than the first day, but equally impressive. We will cover just 9.5 km, with the trail mostly descending, offering a more relaxing experience. 🌲🏞️
Petrostrouga Shelter – Koromilia Shelter
We start our day from the Petrostrouga Shelter. The trail is mainly downhill, making the use of trekking poles essential for a comfortable hike. 🥾
The trail to Koromilia has a northern orientation and passes through a dense beech forest, offering coolness and stunning natural beauty. 🍃
Stop at Koromilia Shelter:
At Koromilia, we will take a pleasant break to enjoy a refreshing beer. 🍺 This is the perfect time to relax and regain strength before continuing our hike.
Red Rock Waterfall – Orlia Waterfalls:
From Koromilia, we head towards the Red Rock Waterfall, where we will enjoy the stunning view and the sound of the water. 🌊
Our final destination is the Orlia Waterfalls in Agios Konstantinos, one of the most beautiful and picturesque spots on Olympus. 🌟
